Academy Park

With the view toward the Old Stone Row.  This land was donated by Seth Storrs and his neighbors as a site for the Academy and a west-side counterpart to Painter’s village green. This is the gateway from town to campus. It was not a focus for elegant buildings and churches as was the village green. Rather, with a few notable exceptions, it was surrounded by the more modest homes of tradesmen and Middlebury mill workers.
